Fishing at Finegand
A professional recently said about the stretch of the River Shee
running through Finegand "the Ericht is the jewel in the
crown of the Tay system and Finegand is the jewel of the Ericht".
The Shee Water, which is the head waters of the river Ericht
and a tributary of the Tay provides exciting salmon fishing,
where sport can be expected to come thick and fast.
Finegand
had yet another good year in 2004. During the height of the season
at least a salmon a day can be
expected to be caught at Finegand. The river is divided into two
beats, each being about 2 miles, and including many fine pools.
One of the regular Fisherman said about one of the pools this year "that
it provided the most desirable 25 yards of Scotland"
We
will be happy to arrange salmon fishing to meet our guests needs;
however this should be arranged well in advance as such a
unique opportunity, to fish at Finegand, is very popular. Shona
and Brian Haddow, who will be happy to tell you more about the
River, can take bookings.
Wild trout fishing is also available from
the lochan, which can be found near to the Creek cottage. Wild
trout varying in size
up to about 2lbs can be caught and this is FREE to residents, also salmon
fishing, if unbooked, is free to residents until early July.
